Your Lifespan vs. your Healthspan

Imagine if you could live forever. In Greek Mythology, Zeus granted this gorgeous mortal man, Tithonus, eternal life. How amazing, right? As with most things, there was a catch -- Zeus couldn't make Tithonus a god, so though he would certainly live forever, his mortal body would continue to wither away.
Tithonus is a shining example of the difference between lifespan vs. healthspan.
No one is genuinely interested in extending life if it equates to persistent pain and managing chronic disease; however, lifespan and healthspan are two very different concepts.
As Dr. Peter Attia shares in his book, Outlive, your lifespan is fixed (the chronological number of years you live), but your healthspan describes a state of being free from disability or disease.
We have a huge amount of control over our healthspan. I recognize the impact of what I choose to put in my body, how I balance my workouts, mindfulness, and my connection to others transforms my health---that is what motivated me to create Life Rewired. I am committed to bringing those practices to others. The challenge we face is that most people don't recognize the importance of starting to live healthier right now. Instead, we wait until there is a crisis or a life-threatening prognosis where we're forced to act. If exploring your personal health inventory feels like a meaningful next step to find the gaps in your health/well-being practices, know that I'm here for you.
